The Ripple Effect of Fostering a Culture of Literacy Among Mentors

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) is focused on creating a Culture of Literacy. The BCSD seeks to develop a culture where members have agency and see themselves as readers with frequent, purposeful, and joyful interactions with text. As a team, New Teacher Development was challenged to embed this work in our professional development (PD) for mentors and new teachers as well as to be role models in promoting literacy. We began seeing the ripple effect of this PD in both mentor and mentee classrooms which is having a positive impact in the way students are engaging with reading. We are excited to share some of these impactful resources with you!
