Several research studies have proven a strong connection between educator beliefs and student outcomes. In this session, the presenters will discuss how coaches can become curious and effective at identifying biased statements and how to probe and effectively address beliefs that can eventually negatively impact student learning. Participants in this session will practice identifying deficit mindsets and will learn tools they can implement right away to ignite limitless thinking about academic and behavioral challenges by unpacking how beliefs influence behaviors and actions using the Ladder of Inference. In addition, they will effectively engage in role playing activities in order to practice how to sustain a coaching conversation that leads to breakthroughs full of new possibilities and perspectives.
