Imagine walking the exact steps in history that enslaved african people walked as they fought for freedom? How can this lesson transform you as a school district, administrator, teacher or staff? Learn from those that have experienced this history and utilized it in their district, bringing the conversation of empathy into the classroom. If you had the same choice as a student to run for freedom, or put your life and freedom on the line for someone of a different race, would you? Join us to learn hands on techniques that have working in the classroom.

Underground Railroad: Footsteps to Freedom

This talk utilizes the lens of the historical empathy and impact of the Underground Railroad to understand how individuals participated in creating freedom. Evaluate details about the this time period from primary sources and understand and examine the historical background and repercussions of the The choices of being on the right, or wrong side of history. Participants will have a conversation on empathy, especially as a tool for dialogue and engagement.
